World Cup: Shreyas Iyer put on 'short' notice

Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan are competing for one spot in the team once Hardik Pandya recovers from injury. Iyer, who has featured in all six games of India's unbeaten campaign, has struggled with short, pacy deliveries and has been dismissed attempting the pull shot. Gautam Gambhir suggests that Iyer should be more selective and not always go for the attacking option. Iyer's performance against Sri Lanka will be crucial in determining his future in the team.

Apple Unveils 24-Inch iMac With M3 Chip, Up to 10-Core GPU in India: Price, Specifications

Apple has finally upgraded the 24-inch iMac with the newly announced M3 chip, following the M1-powered iMac that was launched in 2021. The 24-inch iMac with M3 chip was unveiled during Apple's Scary Fast event on Tuesday. It features the same design as the 2021 iMac model with an M1 chip, that was launched three years ago. The upgraded iMac M3 model comes with an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. It is claimed to offer up to two times better performance than the M1-based iMac while also being more efficient.

24-inch iMac M3 price in India, availability

The new 24-inch iMac with an M3 chip starts at Rs. 1,34,900. This model comes with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of memory, a 256GB SSD storage, and two Thunderbolt ports. Apple includes the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse with the 24-inch iMac. It is available in green, pink, blue, and silver colour options.

On the other hand, the 24-inch iMac with M3 variant with the 10-core GPU starts at Rs. 1,54,900 or Rs. 1,44,900 for education. It comes with the same configuration — an 8-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and two USB 3 ports. This is bundled with a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Magic Mouse. It is available in Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Silver, and Yellow colour options.

As for availability, the new 24-inch iMac with M3 is already up for pre-order on the Apple website. It will go on sale via the website, Apple Store, and Apple authorised resellers starting November 7.

24-inch iMac M3 specifications, features

While the new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip looks similar to the older model, it does offer some performance improvements. The M3 chip with 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU with support for up to 24GB unified RAM is claimed to be twice as faster as the M1 chip, and is based on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro's A17 Pro chip.

Apple's new M3 chip is manufactured using a 3nm process, which also makes it more efficient than the M1 chip that powered its predecessor. In the graphics department, the chip offers hardware-accelerating mesh shading with support for ray tracing on the iMac. There's also a 16-core Neural Engine that enables faster machine learning.

The all-in-one 24-inch iMac with M3 comes with a 24-inch Retina Display that offers 4.5K resolution and 500 nits of peak brightness. It now comes with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, up to four USB Type-C ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and Gigabit Ethernet support. There's also a 1080p FaceTime camera and a six-speaker setup that offers support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. It runs the new macOS Sonoma out-of-the-box.

How Hardik Pandya twist corrected India’s selection glitch

The injury to Hardik Pandya during the game against Bangladesh prompted the Indian think-tank to reassess their team selection. Mohammed Shami was initially overlooked for Shardul Thakur. However, Pandya's absence exposed the bowling weakness, leading to Thakur being dropped. The team management's cautious mindset of picking Thakur as an insurance player compromised the quality of the bowling attack. The injury forced the team to make necessary changes, avoiding the tricky task of altering a winning combination. Shami's impressive performance after being given a chance highlights the importance of his skills.

Hardik may join team in Mumbai, but still uncertain to play vs SL

Pandya suffered a slip in his follow-through while bowling against Bangladesh, which made him unavailable for the matches against New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22 and England on October 29. Consequently, Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami were included in the playing XI for both the matches. “Yes, Pandya, who is presently recuperating at the NCA in Bengaluru, will join the team in Mumbai. Right now, we can’t be sure if he will play against Sri Lanka,” a reliable source told TOI.

India vs England: Did dot-ball pressure get to India batters?

It may sound a comprehensive 100-run win over defending champions England, which is India's sixth in as many matches of this World Cup, but it was hard-earned, considering the hole India found themselves in after put in to bat first. It tells that any chinks that remain in India's plans may need to be eliminated before the semifinals, a stage they are now almost certain to make. And with Pakistan’s semis spot highly unlikely, India are set to play their last-four clash in Mumbai.

Messi eyes an eighth Ballon d'Or with Bonmati set to win women's award

Lionel Messi is the favorite to win the eighth Ballon d'Or, set to be held in Paris on Monday. Aitana Bonmati, a World Cup-winning Spain player, is also a potential candidate for the women's prize. Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated the award for 15 years, with 12 wins each. Only Luka Modric and Karim Benzema have managed to break this duopoly. A recent rule change now bases the award on a player's performance over the last season, rather than the entire calendar year.

World Cup: Pitch comes in focus as India take on England

The Indian cricket team, including captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid, spent time inspecting the pitch in Lucknow ahead of their match against England. The pitch has been a subject of concern in the past, with Hardik Pandya calling it a "shocker" earlier this year. India will be hoping for consistent bounce and run-scoring opportunities on the red soil surface. The absence of Pandya means India may have to drop either Mohammed Shami or Mohammed Siraj to accommodate an extra spinner.

India vs England World Cup Match 2023 Today: How to Watch Live Stream, Live Telecast Details

India vs England World Cup 2023 match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 29, at Ekana Sports City stadium, Lucknow. The host team has been faring well in the tournament so far, with 5 wins in all the matches it has played. With 10 points, India sits second in the points table for the World Cup 2023. It is only behind South Africa, who moved to first position after a massive win against Pakistan. On the other hand, the defending champions will find it hard even to make it to the semi-finals at this stage. England sits at the last position in the points table currently, with only one win in its account so far.

India is suffering a loss as Hardik Pandya is recovering from his injury. While he was expected to join the team for Lucknow's game, his ligament tear may take longer to heal, and we might miss him for the next two games. Suryakumar Yadav replaced Pandya in the previous match against New Zealand. However, he failed to woo fans with his performance. On the other hand, Mohammad Shami took 5 wickets in the same match and became the Player of the Match. For the next clash, BCCI may take a chance with R Ashwin to fill Pandya's position. Another awaiting feat is Virat Kohli's 49th century, making him the cricketer with most ODI centuries.

England, the champions of World Cup 2019, has been finding it hard to score a win. In the five matches it has played so far, England has managed to claim a victory only once. While captain Jos Buttler has repeatedly defended his team, there have been questions from all ends. Their performance has made it difficult to qualify for the semi-finals. It will be interesting to see if England manages to reclaim their lost glory against India.

The match will begin at 2 pm IST, and the toss will take place 30 minutes before the scheduled time, at 1:30 pm IST.

India vs England World Cup 2023 squad

These are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: India vs New Zealand Sets Live Streaming World Record With 4.3 Crore Viewers

India recorded a convincing four-wicket win over New Zealand — their first over the Black Caps in an ICC tournament since 2003 — to climb to the top of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 table on Sunday. Handing New Zealand their first defeat of the tournament, India have now won five games on the trot at the World Cup, looking strong favourites to lift the trophy for the first time since 2011. Rohit Sharma and co. chased down a target of 274 with 12 balls to spare, courtesy an emphatic 95 from Virat Kohli. In the process, the match also set a new world record for live streaming, with Disney+ Hotstar recording 4.3 crore live concurrent viewers.

Disney+ Hotstar owns the digital streaming rights for the ongoing World Cup and, according to the streamer, 4.3 crore live concurrent viewers tuned in on Sunday to watch India versus New Zealand. This marks a new world record for streaming, breaking the previous record set by the India versus Pakistan match on October 14.

Hosts India and 2019 World Cup finalists New Zealand were the only two undefeated sides at the tournament heading into the match, with the Black Caps sitting top of the table on the basis of a higher net run rate. While New Zealand fielded an unchanged side from their win over Afghanistan, India made two changes. Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami came in for the injured Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur.

India won the toss and put New Zealand to bat, who set up a total of 273 with the help of Daryl Mitchell's 130 off 127 balls, with Shami taking five wickets in the process. While Kohli narrowly missed out on another century, his 95 helped India reach 274 with two overs remaining.

The India versus Pakistan match on October 14 also set a global streaming record when over 3.5 crore live concurrent viewers tuned in on Disney+ Hotstar to see the much-awaited clash. The streamer holds the streaming rights for the World Cup in India and is also offering new viewing features for the tournament in association with the ICC. Its new MaxView feature allows cricket fans to watch matches in portrait mode on their smartphones, with ICC providing a dedicated vertical feed.

The former comes with a 6.8-inch display with an adjustable warm light that should help with reading in low-light situations. Unless chunky bezels are a no-go, these should be perfect, providing up to 10 weeks of battery life on a single charge. The Kindle Paperwhite costs Rs. 11,999 for the 8GB version (14 percent discount).

Of course, unless you're a voracious reader, I imagine it'd be pretty hard to fill up all that storage, albeit if you run out, just let Amazon's cloud take care of that for you. Much of the difference lies in the appearance, with the Kindle Oasis (10th Gen) bearing an aluminium body in luxurious colourways like gold and graphite. Furthermore, its buttons are set on the right-hand-side bezel, allowing you to turn pages without having to smudge your greasy fingers on the 7-inch screen. The Kindle Oasis, Champagne Gold version, is available at a 16 percent discount during the Amazon Sale, costing Rs. 20,999. It comes with 32GB of storage and Wi-Fi connectivity. There's also a version that adds 4G connectivity to the mix, ideal for those who often travel, so they can use their phone data to connect to the internet and read books. This version of Kindle Oasis is listed at Rs. 24,999, down from Rs. 28,999, thanks to a 14 percent discount.

Keeping with tradition, customers can avail of additional discounts — on top of the original deal — based on their banks during the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2023. As we enter this new phase of the sale, customers owning an HDFC Bank, One Card, and Bank of Baroda debit or credit cards will receive an additional 10 percent discount on their purchases. EMI offers are also available during this festive season, for which Amazon has yet to announce an end date.

Here are the Top Deals on Kindle E-readers During Amazon's Great Indian Festival Sale

Huawei Nova 12 Series Specifications Leak; Might Feature Kirin Chipsets, Triple Rear Cameras

Huawei Nova 11 series was launched in China in April this year, along with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G SoC. Now, the Huawei Nova 12 lineup is said to be in the works as the purported successor to the Nova 11 series. While details of the Huawei Nova 12 and Huawei Nova 12 Pro are yet to be officially announced, their key specifications have surfaced on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website. Both models are tipped to feature 120Hz refresh rate displays protected by Huawei's Kunlun glass. They are said to be powered by the company's Kirin chips and could feature a 60-megapixel selfie shooter.

Tipster Moorish Sky (translated from Chinese) posted key specifications of Huawei Nova 12 and Huawei Nova 12 Pro on Weibo. As per the leak, both models will feature displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and Huawei's Kunlun glass for protection from drops. The Pro model is said to run on the Kirin 9000S platform. This is the same mobile chip that powers the Huawei Mate 60. The vanilla Huawei Nova 12 could feature the yet-to-be-announced Kirin 830 SoC under the hood.

For optics, both Huawei Nova 12 and Huawei Nova 12 Pro are said to get a triple rear camera unit. The camera setup of the regular model might comprise a 50-megapixel primary camera, 12-megapixel sensor, and 8-megapixel shooter. The Huawei Nova 12 Pro's camera unit is tipped to include two 50-megapixel sensors and a 12-megapixel sensor.

Both phones are tipped to sport a 60-megapixel front camera. Further, both smartphones might offer satellite messaging functionality that allows users to send and receive messages through satellite connectivity.

The Huawei Nova 12 is said to come with a 4,800mAh battery with 88W fast charging, while the Pro model could feature a 4,900mAh battery with 100W fast charging.

The Huawei Nova 12 series might succeed the Huawei Nova 11 series that was launched earlier this year in China — there's no word from the company on when these phones will debut. The Huawei Nova 11's price starts at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 29,800), while the Huawei Nova 11 Pro's price starts at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 41,800).

Honor Play 8T Launch Date Tipped for October 18: Expected Specifications, Features

Honor Play 8T could be launched this week in China. There's still no word from the Chinese tech brand on an official date for the handset, but an alleged official poster has now surfaced online, hinting at the smartphone's launch date, design and few of its specifications. The Honor Play 8T is shown to sport a hole punch display design. It is tipped to feature a dual rear camera unit, led by a 50-megapixel primary camera and is said to pack a 6,000mAh battery.

As per a purported teaser poster leaked by a Weibo user, the launch of Honor Play 8T will take place in China on October 18. The poster suggests that the handset will be equipped with a display that has a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera and a dual rear camera unit. The poster also mentions a couple of the phone's specifications.

The poster states that the phone will feature a 6,000mAh battery. It is also tipped to feature a 50-megapixel primary rear camera. The Honor Play 8T could ship with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The display of the smartphone is listed to support up to 850 nits of peak brightness.

The Honor Play 8T appears to be a rebranded version of the Honor Play 50 Plus. The latter was announced earlier this month in China with a price tag of CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 15,000). As of now, Honor has not shared any information on the specifications of the phone or its release date, including via its official Weibo channel.

The Honor Play 8T could debut as a successor to the Honor Play 7T. It was introduced in March at CNY 1,099 (roughly Rs. 13,100) for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The Honor Play 7T has a 6.74-inch TFT LCD display with 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of inbuilt storage. WhatsApp Rolls Out Redesigned Interface With New Colours to Beta Testers on Android

WhatsApp has finally begun testing a revamped interface on Android, months after the company was spotted working on a redesigned version of the popular chat application. The new interface ditches WhatsApp's iconic green-coloured top bar in favour of a white top bar, in the main chat list and inside individual chats. The new design is also aligned with Google's Material Design 3 guidelines and improves the appearance of dark theme. WhatsApp has also added new 'outline' icons for various buttons in the app, as part of the latest beta update.

A Gadgets 360 staff member's app received the redesigned interface on the latest beta version — WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12. After installing the latest beta, testers should begin to see a redesigned interface that includes a white bar at the top, with the WhatsApp text in green (the stable version of the app currently displays the app's name in white on a dark green background). When the dark theme is enabled, the top bar now turns black and the text is displayed in white.whatsapp new interface redesign gadgets360 whatsapp

WhatsApp has also tweaked the colour of the green accent used in the app, on both the light and dark themes in the app. As a result, the colour of the floating action button and other parts of the interface with the green accent — such as the floating action button (FAB) — appear a little brighter, especially when the dark mode is turned on.

In addition to the new colour tweaks on the Android app, WhatsApp has also replaced the solid icons for voice and video calls inside individual chats, as well as the camera icon on the main chat list, with outlines of the existing icons. These icons were previously spotted last month by a feature tracker on version 2.23.20.10 of WhatsApp beta for Android.

WhatsApp is also working on updating the colour palette for its iOS app, along with the new outline icons — the new design elements were recently spotted on WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.19.1.72. Unlike its Android counterpart, however, WhatsApp for iOS does not contain a green-coloured top bar on the stable version of the app.

While the new interface does not appear to have made its way to iOS beta testers, both mobile platforms are also expected to gain support for new chat filters such as AllUnreadContacts, and Groups, that could make managing several chats a lot easier. These filters, along with the redesigned interface, are expected to roll out to users on the stable channel in the coming months.
